Real Madrid are prepared to break the bank to lure Man City talisman Kevin de Bruyneto the Bernabeu, according to reports.

BKevin de Bruyne has been in fine form for Manchester City this season.

City have been in stellar form this season and sit eight points clear of rivals Manchester United in the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola’s men have scored an impressive 40 goals in 11 games and much of that is down to Belgian playmaker De Bruyne.

The former Chelsea ace has scored three and laid another six on for his teammates.

And his performances have not gone unnoticed on the continent.

Real Madrid are interested in his services, according to Spanish website Don Balon, and are prepared to make a huge bid in January.

Los Blancos have endured a tougher season this year, sitting ten points behind Barcelona in La Liga and also suffering a 3-1 defeat to Tottenham in the Champions League.

Coach Zinedine Zidane saw some stars leave this summer including Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez, but also made a number of signings, predominantly youngsters such as Theo Hernandez and Dani Ceballos.

Club president Florentino Perez was happy to change his normal recruitment policy of buying ‘Galactico’ stars but his patience is wearing thinner after already surrendering so many points to their arch-nemesis Barcelona in the league.

Recent poor form from star forward Cristiano Ronaldo has also aided the decision to go and buy a big-name who can kick start their season.

The Real chief is reported to covet Man City star De Bruyne, who has developed into a world-class player under Guardiola.

A bid of £88.6m (€100m) is being readied by the Spanish club, and they remain confident as long as the ex-Wolfsburg midfielder has not put pen to paper on a new deal at the Etihad.

The 26-year-old signed a six-year deal when he joined in 2015 and recently hinted he is ready to extend his stay at City.

He said: “I see myself being a long time here.

“Since Pep came to the club, he plays a style of football I like to play, so it makes it easy as a player.

“I like it here, it is the perfect environment and since I came here there has been a lot of trust in me. I like the project they are doing from the moment I came here.”

Both Real Madrid and Man City are in action this week in the Champions League and take on Apoel and Feyenoord respectively.
