Barcelona have revealed plans to rename their stadium.
Barcelona are hoping to renovate the Nou Camp and the surrounding area with a £500million make over.
The Catalan outfit have been in their current home, which is the largest stadium in Europe, since 1957.
The
naming rights to their ground are expected to sell for more than £250m,
which is half of the money they need for the renovation.
Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu has confirmed that the club are in talks with up to three “big” companies over the deal.
"Beko
was the last [sponsor] that we renewed our agreement with, the next
steps are the naming rights to the stadium,” Bartomeu told Bloomberg.
"Espai
Barca is a total renewal of the stadium, but not only the stadium, also
part of the city of Barcelona, because we will have a new arena.
"There are two of three companies we are talking to.
“Our partner will probably bring us half of the investment.
"One
of the objectives of the club is to earn money every year, of course,
because we have to reinvest that money in players and real estate."
Bartomeu was in London last week to watch his side take on Chelsea in the Champions League.
The La Liga leaders earned a 1-1 draw to take back for the reverse fixture in two weeks’ time.
