CONFIRMED: Bayern Munich Will Not Appoint Thomas Tuchel As New Coach

Bayern Munich Will name the successor to coach Jupp Heynckes “by the end of April at the latest” and it will not be Thomas Tuchel, the Bundesliga leaders’ CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed to German TV.

Heynckes could lead Bayern to a treble this season, emulating the historic achievement he orchestrated in the 2012/13 season.

The 72-year-old retired after that unprecedented successonly to be tempted back for a fourth spell at Bayern when the club was seeking a replacement for Carlo Ancelotti last October.

Regardless of how the season ends, however, Heynckes is set toleave his position in May with Bayern closing in on the man they want to lead them into the 2018/19 campaign.

“I'm working on the basis that we'll present our new coach by the end of April at the latest,” Rummenigge told Sky Sports.

“But there's no rush, we’re quite relaxed. We’ve already hired coaches just a few days before the start of training. The credo is: we want a German-speaking coach. And that's how it'll be.”

One thing is certain, however: it will not be Tuchel.

The former Borussia Dortmund and Mainz boss has been out of the game since leaving Bayern’s rivals last summer.

The tactician was contacted by Bayern, but has since informed them he has already agreed to work elsewhere.

“Our sporting director,Hasan Salihamidzic, has held talks with coaches — that’s his job — and among them was Tuchel,” Rummenigge said.

“Last Friday, Thomas Tuchel told us that he's signed with another club. One hasto accept that, but it’s not a problem for us.”
