PSG Ready To Battle Man Utd For Spurs Defender Toby Alderweireld

 

PSG are ready to challenge Manchester United for the signing of Toby Alderweireld this summer, according to reports.

Alderweireld is out of contract in 2019 but has the option of another year.

But the extension would automatically trigger a a £25million buyout clause, meaning Tottenham are likely to negotiate a sale this summer if they can’t agree new terms.

And the Belgium star has been stalling on a new deal aware that more money is available elsewhere. 

According to The Telegraph PSG are ready to make a move as they look to strengthen their backline.

And that would Force Manchester United To make their move sooner rather than later.

Alderweireld is among Jose Mourinho’s targets as he plots a summer overhaul.

United are set to axe at least five playersthis summer with Mourinho keen to add defenders in the centre and at full back.

Alderweireld would be available for around £40m, making him relatively affordable compared to the likes of January movers Virgil van Dijk and Aymeric Laporte.

The Tottenham star has struggled with injury this season and Mauricio Pochettino has shown faith with summer signing Davinson Sanchez in recent weeks.

Alderweireld has played just 10 times in the Premier League and hasn’t played in it at all since October 28 despite making his return against Newport on February 7.
