Harry Kane surpassed Alan Shearer's goalscoring record during Tottenham’s game against Southampton.
In the 21st minute, Kane steered home a header from close range.
The strike was significant as it was his 37th Premier League goal of 2017.
In doing so, he broke Shearer’s record of 36 - a milestone
that had stood for 22 years and dates back to his time at Blackburn
Rovers.
Kane had equalled Shearer’s feat last Saturday when he scored a hat-trick in his side’s 3-0 win away to Burnley.
Shearer paid tribute to Kane after his landmark goal.
He tweeted: “You’ve had a magnificent 2017 @HKane.
“You deserve to hold the record of most @premierleague goals in a calendar year.
“Well done and keep up the good work.”
