Gobe!! Man United Will Not Make An Appeal For Paul Pogba Red Card Ahead Of Manchester Derby

Manchester United may have become the first side to beat Arsenal at The Emirates this season, yet it came at a cost.

Paul Pogba was simply sensational for Manchester United at Arsenal.

Pogba set up the first for Antonio Valencia.

And, even more impressively, bagged an assist for Jesse Lingard’s second.

(Including Anthony Martial’s set up for Lingard’s opener, Manchester United bagged three fine assists at Arsenal.)

Manchester United without Paul Pogba for Manchester City!

However, with 14 minutes remaining, Pogba was sent off for a studs-high harsh tackle on Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin.

So whilst Manchester United won, it was a poor outcome for the French midfielder, who has looked so good in the Premier League season.

Pogba now misses games against Manchester City (h) – HUGE! – as well as Bournemouth (h) and West Brom (a).

Will Manchester United appeal the Paul Pogba red card?

There was initially some suggestions that Manchester United would appeal the Paul Pogba red card.

Whilst that is still possibility, an article on the Manchester United website seems to confirm there will be no appeal.

Titled: “Paul Pogba ruled out of Manchester derby“, Manchester United assert their support for Pogba and make it clear that the Frenchman should not have received a red card.“

Everybody knows he is a clean player”

Yet at the same time, Manchester United also confirm the games Pogba will miss.

According to Manchester United, Pogba was sent off for “a challenge on home full-back Hector Bellerin when over-running the ball.”

Jose Mourinho also discussed the Pogba red card after the win over Arsenal:

“I just know Paul is frustrated and a bit disappointed withhis colleague [Laurent] Koscielny for his reaction. But Paul was very frustrated. Everybody knows he is a clean player and it was not his intention, not at all, to be close to a red card. I’ve not seen a TV replay so I don’t know.”

Paul Pogba’s next game in English domestic football will be at Bristol City in the Carabao Cup.
