Antonio Conte Puts Pressure On Chelsea Board To Agree Thibaut Courtois Deal

Antonio Conte has pleaded with the Chelsea board to sign Thibaut Courtois up to a new contract.

Antonio Conte wants the club to wrap up a deal for Thibaut Courtois.

The Chelsea stopper’s current deal runs until 2019 and he is being tracked by Real Madrid.

He played in Spain for Atletico for three seasons and his girlfriend is from Madrid.

Courtois has impressed since returning to London but has never hid his affection for life in Spain.

And Conte thinks the club need to tie him down - because he’s one of the best in the world.

“He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and has a great potential," Conte said.

“He is young but he shows a great maturity. I hope to find an agreement with the club, but I think this topic is the club’s responsibility.

“This is for the club, I hope in the future they have an agreement.”

Courtois ousted Petr Cech under Jose Mourinho and has become one of the most dependable keepers in the Premier League.

But the Blues have begun looking at alternatives if Courtois does leave.

He appears to be in a battle with David De Gea to be Madrid's next goalkeeper with Keylor Navas set for the chop.
