Barcelona star, Lionel Mession Wednesday night scored the quickest goal of his career in the second leg round of 16 UEFA Champions League clash toput his side in the driving seat against Chelsea at the Camp Nou.
Messi led-Barcelona played a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Stamford Bridge.
But the Argentine gave the Catalan club the advantage when
heput one through the Blues goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois’ legs after
just two minutes and six seconds into the game.
The goal was Messi’s 601st for Barca but it was a personal
record for the 30-year-old as it was the quickest he’s ever scored for
club or country.
The goal means Messi beat his previous quickest effort
which came against Racing Santander in 2009 when he scored after 156
seconds.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s miserable start was compounded just 18
minutes later when forward, Ousmane Dembele got Barcelona’s second goal
after Messi nicked the ball off Cesc Fabregas and set-up the French
striker to double their advantage.
The match ended 3-0 in favour of the home team.
