Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that the club are too slow when they start games at the moment and they’re paying the price for it.
Spurs have not only dropped out of the title race in recent
weeks, but they’ve also seen their top four challenge suffer blows, and
losing to Arsenal and Leicester City has not helped that.
It’s something the manager was blunt about after the game,
and made it very clear he thinks the club need to improve if they want
to get into the top four – let alone win trophies.
“We did not play in the way we normally play,” he told BBC’s Match of the Day.
“The first half was a poor performance and it was difficult after that to get back into the game.
“We feel very disappointed in our performance. We started
the game not in the right way and we conceded the opportunity to them to
score.
“At 2-0 down it is difficult. We need toimprove the way we start. It happened against West Brom and Borussia Dortmund.”
The points Spurs have once again dropped will only play
into their rivals hands, and it seems that Arsenal and Liverpool – not
to mention Chelsea will want to make them pay for it tonight, with the
three clubs set to play and looking to increase their points tally.
It’s clear that while Manchester City may be running away
with the title, the race for the top four will be more competitive than
ever, with Spurs fighting Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and
Liverpool for a place in the Champions League spots, and knowing that
they simply have to get back into Europe’s premier competition next
season.
