France Football, the same source who are in charge of the Ballon d’Or award, have crowned Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante on Boxing Day.
Kante, who has won the Premier League title for the last
two seasons in a row, has been named the French Player of the Year 2017.
That’s a high accolade considering just how strong the French squad is right now.
He’s beaten the likes of Attletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, Man United’s Paul Pogba and PSG’s Kylian Mbappe to the top prize.
According to reports, the Chelsea midfield dynamo scooped the award after receiving 92 votes.
That was five move than Mbappe while Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema was third in the ranking with 52 votes.

The people in charge of the votes are all the former
winners France Football French Player of the Year, plus the current
editor-in-chief of the magazine.
Griezmann, for example, was able to vote this year after he won the prize in 2016.
Everyone who votes writes down five players on their lists.
Whoever gets the most votes wins.
It’s been reported that Griezmann voted for Thomas Lemar, Pogba, Mbappé, Alexandre Lacazette and Kante with his 2017 picks.
Others who casted votes include Didier Deschamps, Michel Platini, Sylvain Wiltord, Franck Ribery, Samir Nasri and Karim Benzema.

Premier League champions Chelsea host Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day.
Antonio Conte’s side were held to a 0-0 draw at Everton on Saturday, ending a run of three straight victories.
Chelsea dominated the match but were wasteful with their numerous chances.
If Chelsea thought they were in the title race, then Saturday’s stalemate confirms they aren’t any longer.
The Blues are now 16 points behind leaders Man City at Christmas.
Still, Chelsea will want to at least catch Manchester United, who they are currently three points behind.
Brighton ended a seven-match winless run on Saturday, beating Watford 1-0 at the Amex.
Pascal Gross scored his fourth goal of the season in the second half to lift Chris Hughton’s side up to 12th.
Only Crystal Palace and West Brom have scored fewer
away goals this season than Brighton, who have blanked in each of their
last three away outings.
