Jurgen Klopp has admitted Philippe Coutinho could join Barcelona in January.
Barca have chased the Liverpool star, 25, since selling Neymar in the summer.
The Reds turned down three bids for their prized asset and were adamant they would not sell.
However, Klopp today conceded the Brazilian could leave the club when the transfer window reopens.
Asked about Coutinho’s future, Klopp said:
"I don't think about it for one second. I'm not unsure, I'm not sure.
"Nobody knows what will happen in January.
"Losing the Brazilian superstar would be a hammer blow to
Klopp. Coutinho had a summer of uncertainty over whether he would stay
or go and he was left disappointed when a Nou Camp move did not
materialise.
However, he has bounced back with some inspired displays to show the saga has not unsettled him.
Coutinho set up Emre Can and Roberto Firmino for the opening two goals against Brighton on Saturday.
He then found the bottom corner underneath a free-kick
wall, evoking memories of a similar strike in an FA Cup quarter-final
against West Ham last year.
Coutinho earned special praise from his manager today, who
said: "You practice free-kicks with different walls - they have wheels
but cannot jump!
"We are always as well prepared as possible for something like this.
"They still need to have the courage to do it because if they don’t jump, it doesn’t look great. It was fantastic."
