Gobe!! Chelsea Join Race To Sign Wantaway Arsenal Midfield Star - Report

Chelsea are considering a move for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, according to reports in Germany.

Mesut Ozil is out of contract with Arsenal in the summer and looks unlikely to agree a new deal.

With the Germany international potentially available on a free transfer, a number of Europe’s top clubs have been linked.

Barcelona and Manchester United have both been touted as potential destinations for the former Real Madrid man.

But German magazine Sport Bild claim they are not alone, with Chelsea also in the running for the 29-year-old.

The report says Barca and United have been put off by Ozil’s huge wage demands - something that was stalling his talks with the Gunners.

However, the midfielder’s requests could be met by the Blues who are still backed by Roman Abramovich’s billions.

Should Ozil make the move across London, it seems likely he would do so in the summer rather than January following Arsene Wenger’s recent comments.

Speaking about the futures of Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, he said: “As long as they are here, they give their best for the club.

"In my head, they stay until the end of the season.Unless something unbelievable happens I don't see that changing.”

And when asked if they will stay beyond the end of the 2017/18 season, he added:

"I am not the only one to decide that.

“They have to decide that as well."

Ozil has made 10 appearances this term for the Gunners, scoring one goal and providing three assists in all competitions.
