Legendary Andres Iniesta Reveals Why Barcelona Want Liverpool Midfielder Philippe Coutinho

Barcelona star Andres Iniesta says Philippe Coutinho would be a great signing for the club if a deal is agreed.

Coutinho is once again being strongly linked with a move to Barcelona after seeing his hopes of a transfer quashed by Liverpool in the summer.

The Reds rejected three bids by Barcelona and turned down Coutinho’s transfer request as they stood firm with their not-for-sale stance.

And speaking at a promotional event earlier today, the Barcelona playmaker was asked about the prospect of Coutinho and Palmeiras centre-back Yerry Mina joining the club.

"Both in its own characteristics would be two important reinforcements, important because the players they are and their roles," Iniesta said.

“If the club think [that they should sign them] it is because they believe that its necessary to bloster those areas.

"[The potential new signings] have to be players with a top level and ready to deal with the pressure of a club like this.

“They would be two great signings. But these are situations that are not a reality so it is difficult to talk about it when it has not happened.

"With the January transfer window approaching,Coutinho’s future is back in the spotlight and the Brazilian last week was non-committal.

"I am at Liverpool and I always do my best when I have the opportunity to play, respecting the Jersey and the supporters," said Coutinho.

"I do not know how the future is going to be. Whatwill happen in January, we will know it in January.I do not know if there will be an offer.

"Last summer there was a job offer in the same way that happens with any employee and I was interested in it. Since I stayed I have played with will and desire.

"Of course a lot happened in the summer but my will is always to play and do the best wherever I am - that has not changed.

"I am here (at Liverpool), we have a lot of games and I try to do my best to help."
